We do food, drink and art at The Sun and Doves, ‘the contemporary local’. We set out, in 1995, to put Camberwell on the map. In 1996 we were runner up Time Out Bar of the Year and 1998 Evening Standard’s Top Ten London Pubs.
We do things for people, not just for ourselves. We’ve been involved with SE5—the area we’re in—at all levels and kick-started the regeneration of most of the pubs in the area and the start of a local ‘scene’.
We exhibit art regularly, do great pub quizzes, film nights, occasional live music, Magnificent Sevens where you get to play your own set of your favourite tunes, and Dusted Vinyl for those who only have albums.
We specialise in being friendly, efficient and good value. We do weddings, private functions, drinks and buffet parties for groups from ten to two hundred as well as the tough day to day business of serving a wide range of cocktails, wines, real ales and fruit juices (we squeeze our own citruses), fair trade coffee and teas as well as a solid down to earth contemporary menu with worldwide influences.
We buy locally, recycle as much as we can, and were the first pub in London to sign up to Hospitable Climates because we care about our future.
